M&M Easter cookies are one of my favourite ways to add a little festive fun to our Easter celebrations, especially as they’re dressed up as cute bunny face cookies.
I’m not much of a cook, but I do love making themed, decorative food that feels special without being complicated. If it looks adorable on the table and makes the kids smile, I’m in.
These Easter bunny cookies are sweet, simple, and perfect for Easter baking with kids or sharing at a family get-together.
You don’t need any fancy tools or bakery-level skills to make something that feels extra special (I’m proof of that!).
How do you make bunny face M&M Easter cookies at home?
Bunny face Easter M&M cookies are made by baking soft cookies and decorating them with M&M candies to create a simple bunny face.
They’re easy to customize, kid-friendly, and perfect as Easter party food, for bake sales, or holiday treats.
Most versions of easter cookies with M&Ms use basic cookie dough and pastel M&Ms for a cute spring look.

What Recipe Works Best for Bunny Cookies?
These cookies work beautifully with a sugar cookie recipe.
But I specifically wanted to make them using my Mom’s biscuit recipe called Yo-yo’s to create a slightly different take on easter M&M cookies.
My Mom used to make these all the time for us as kids. I thought it would be fun to give these plain cookies a little Easter twist at our family get-together with some bunny face cookies.
I’m sharing these cookies mostly for Easter inspiration. You won’t usually find many recipes around here, but I’ve included the instructions I used at the end of this post in case you’d like to try the same one.
There are plenty of sugar cookie recipes out there if you’d rather stick to those when making your bunny cookies.
If you are looking for one, you can adapt my Christmas wreath sugar cookies.
And yes, that now officially brings the total number of recipes on this blog to… two. Both cookies. I’m nothing if not consistent.

How to Make Easter Decorated Cookies with M&Ms
These cookies are really easy to make (even for me!). They add such a fun, whimsical touch to your Easter celebrations.
If you’re using the same recipe I did, the steps are slightly different from standard sugar cookies, so it’s worth reading through everything before you start.
Once you’ve made your sugar cookie dough, roll it into balls and place them on a baking tray.
Flatten each ball slightly with a spoon, then bake until they’re just starting to turn golden on the outside.
You then need to decorate them.

Decorating Bunny Face Cookies for a Festive Easter Look
While your cookies are baking, cut your M&Ms in half to prepare the faces for your easter bunny cookies.
Each bunny face uses one whole M&M for the face and two halves for the ears, so you won’t need to cut them all.
Once the cookies are just starting to go golden, you’ll need to work quickly to add the bunny faces.

I’ll be honest — I had a bit of trouble getting the M&Ms to stick.
This might have been because I used a shortbread-style dough… or because I baked them a smidge too long… or because patience isn’t my strongest trait.
I’ve heard this step can be tricky even with sugar cookie dough.
If the M&Ms won’t stick, you can use a little icing sugar, melted chocolate, or even chocolate chips in the dough to help seal them in.
I thought I’d try something else and make a new batch, adding the M&Ms before baking.
The smaller first batch of “problem cookies” went straight to my taste testers (the kids).
Baking them with the M&Ms from the start did slightly change the candy color and caused a few cracks. But I like to think of them as having a charming, vintage look.
