If you’re looking for a fun way to sneak a little mischief into your Christmas crafting, this Grinch handprint craft is the perfect festive project.
It’s cute, simple, and just the right amount of grumpy. Because let’s face it, even the Grinch deserves a little crafting love!
I can still remember watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas as a kid. Snuggled in a blanket, hot chocolate in hand, waiting for that moment when his heart grows three sizes.
Now, watching my own little ones fall in love with the story makes my heart do the same (okay, cheesy but I couldn’t resist!).
This Grinch handprint craft is bright, silly, and oh-so-fun for kids. Plus, it’s an adorable keepsake you’ll treasure long after the holiday chaos fades.
Whether you’re tracing, painting, or printing, this craft captures that cheeky Grinchy grin perfectly.

How to Make a Grinch Handprint Craft
Follow these quick and easy steps to bring your Grinch handprint art to life!
Step 1: Make Your Handprint
Trace your child’s hand on green construction paper, or use the template provided (download button at the end of this post).
If your little ones love messy play, you can also use green paint on their hand and stamp it onto white paper.
Once dry, cut around the handprint. Those fingers will soon become the Grinch’s fuzzy green fur!

Step 2: Add the Face
Using a black marker, draw the Grinch’s nose and that signature sneaky grin. Keep it simple; the magic comes together when you add the eyes later.

Step 3: Cut and Attach the Hat
Use the hat template from the free printable. Trace it onto red paper, cut it out, and glue it to the top of your Grinch handprint.

Step 4: Add the Fluffy White Trim
Cut out the white fluffy trim and pom-pom pieces from white paper.
Glue them just under and at the tip of the red hat for that classic Santa Grinch look.

Step 5: Give Him Those Iconic Eyes
Cut out the yellow eyes from the printable (or draw your own if you’re feeling extra crafty).
Add tiny black pupils and glue them on. Boom! Your Grinch handprint has come to life!

Fun Ways to Use Your Grinch Handprint Craft
Now that your mischievous masterpiece is complete, here are a few fun ways to show it off:
Make a Christmas Card
Glue your Grinch handprint onto a folded card and add a funny message like “Resting Grinch Face” or “Merry Whatever.” It’s perfect for grandparents, teachers, or anyone who loves a good giggle.
Create a Holiday Banner
Make several Grinch handprints (you can even alternate with red and green paper) and string them together for a whimsical holiday garland.
Turn It into a Keepsake Ornament
Shrink your Grinch handprint art on the printer, laminate it, and punch a hole at the top to add a ribbon. Hang it on your tree for a grumpy little grin that reappears every year.
Try a Painted Version
If your kids love sensory play, go for the paint version! Stamp their green handprints, then once dry, draw on the Grinch’s features. It’s messy, memorable, and so much fun.
