There’s nothing sweeter than a gift for mom from kids… but coming up with something meaningful and doable can feel harder than it should be.
I’ve been there, sitting at the table with crayons rolling everywhere, trying to come up with something that feels special but doesn’t require a craft store haul or a full afternoon of prep.
And honestly? The sweetest DIY gifts for mom are usually the simplest ones.
That’s exactly why I created this printable kit. It turns everyday supplies into a meaningful gift for mom that’s fun, creative, and totally doable even on a busy weekday.
If you’ve ever searched for mom gift ideas that kids can actually make, this keepsake printable gifts kit for mom is such an easy win.

Why Gifts from Kids Mean More Than Anything
There’s just something about a handmade gift for mom that hits differently.
It’s not about perfection. For me, it’s about the wobbly coloring, the slightly crooked cutting, and the cute prompt answers that make you laugh and tear up at the same time. That’s where the magic is.
I have so many of these crafts from my kids, and I can’t ever imagine giving them up.
Whether it’s a Mother’s Day craft for kids, simple Mom DIY gifts, or a quick birthday surprise, these little creations become the things moms tuck away in drawers and revisit years (even decades) later.
The Best Gift for Mom from Kids (That’s Easy to Make)
If you’re looking for a gift for mom from kids that’s simple, meaningful, and actually doable, this printable kit ticks all the boxes.
It’s designed so kids can color, cut, and create something truly personal, with just a little help from you when and if needed.
The best part? You probably already have everything you need at home, which makes it one of those gift ideas for mom that doesn’t add extra stress to your day.
What’s Included in the Kit

I’m always a big advocate for using what you already have. No need to rush out and buy a bunch of supplies you’ll only use once.
That said, if you have the option, slightly thicker quality paper or cardstock makes a big difference. Especially when kids get a little enthusiastic with markers or paint.
Regular everyday paper works, but markers can bleed through, and paint can wrinkle it. A heavier paper gives a much nicer finish, especially when creating a handmade gift for mom that you want to last.
For sticking things together, a glue stick or tape runner works best. If you’re using thicker card, a tape runner gives a stronger hold.
And for cutting, a guillotine or paper trimmer is handy, but scissors work perfectly well and are great for getting kids involved.
This kit comes as an instant download PDF in either 8.5×11” (US Letter) or A4 sizes. You can choose between ‘Mom’ American English or ‘Mum’ British English.
You can even find it in grandmother variations like Grandma, Grammy, Abuela, Nana and more.

Tools & Material Suggestions
You can absolutely use what you already have at home or in the classroom. These are just a few helpful suggestions, depending on which project you’re making.
- Lightweight, bright white paper (I like 32lb / 120gsm*)
- Heavier, bright white card (I like 65-80lb / 170-200gsm*)
- Paper trimmer (optional)
- Scissors
- Glue stick and/or glue tape runner
- Single hole punch (for coupons)
- Markers, colored pencils or crayons
- Optional decorative embellishments and ribbons
*If in doubt, look for “cardstock” for thicker paper and “printer paper” for lighter sheets. That alone will get you pretty close.
Greeting Cards

The kit includes three different greeting card designs:
- I [heart] You Mom
- Happy Mother’s Day
- Flower pop-out card
The pop-out card includes a “Just For You Mom” message, plus a blank version so kids can add their own drawings or notes.
For best results, use cardstock around 65-80lb / 170-200gsm so the cards hold their shape nicely. These make a perfect homemade Mother’s Day gift from child or a simple handmade gift for mom birthday.
All About My Mom Questionnaire

This page is always a favorite.
Kids can draw a picture of Mom and answer questions about her. And let me tell you… the answers are often hilarious and heart-melting all at once!
This is such a meaningful gift for mom that becomes a keepsake she’ll come back to again and again over the years.
Bookmarks
These bookmarks double as a mini craft project. Kids can color them in, then:
- Add colored paper to the back
- Punch a hole and thread ribbon through
If you’re looking for more ideas like this, I also have a set of Father’s Day bookmarks that use a similar idea.
Lightweight printer paper works perfectly here.
Coupons

These coupons are such a fun addition. Kids can color and cut them out, then use a hole punch to create a little booklet.
You’ll get:
- A cover page
- A backing page
- 10 Pre-written coupons
- Blank coupons to create your own
Lightweight paper works best, so they’re easy to assemble.
Gift Tags

The kit includes eight gift tags across four different designs.
Four of the tags come with ready-to-go messages:
- Thank You World’s Best Mom
- Happy Birthday Mom
- Happy Mother’s Day Mom
- Just for You Mom
Each one also includes a sweet little “Lots of Love” sign-off, with space for kids to write their name underneath.
The other four tags use the same designs but leave room for your own message (or you can keep them simple). These versions just say “Mom” and “Lots of Love,” so kids can personalise them however they like.
You can use either lighter paper or heavier cardstock for these. If you’re attaching them to a gift and want something a bit sturdier, I’d go with a thicker card.
Gift Bag

These little gift bags are such a sweet touch.
You can fold them over and seal with a sticker, or punch a hole and add ribbon or twine.
- Lighter paper is easier for kids to fold
- Heavier paper adds durability
I’ve used both 32lb / 120gsm paper and 65lb / 176gsm card for these gift bags. I do prefer the heavier card for this project. 3
However, if your kiddos are doing most of the work, you might find lighter paper keeps things easier for little hands with the folding and assembling.
Whether you’re pairing it with another craft or a small surprise, it helps turn your project into a complete gift for mom from kids.
Gift Box

For the gift box, go with thicker card around 65-80lb / 170-200gsm.
It helps the box hold its shape and feel a little sturdier. Younger kids may need a bit of help with folding, but that’s all part of the fun.
It’s perfect for packaging up a small surprise to go along with your handmade gift for mom.
Handprint & Footprint Crafts

These are the kind of keepsakes that never get old.
The handprint design has a cute flower pot with the phrase “Thank you for helping me grow Mom.”
The footprint design includes a heart with the phrase “Little steps, big love for Mom”.
You’ll get both:
- Templates for kids to stamp their own handprints or footprints
- Ready-made versions for kids who don’t love messy paint
If you’re stamping, use thicker paper for best results.
You can also adjust your printer scale to suit your child’s hand or foot size. Since these are designed for a range of ages, from little toddlers to bigger kids, you might find scaling it down just a touch works better for younger prints.
I printed mine at about 93%, which left a bit more white space around the design. It’s a small detail, but it gives a slightly neater finish if that’s your thing.
These are especially popular as a Mother’s Day craft for kids, and they make such a timeless gift for mom from kids.
A Gift for Mom from Kids for Every Occasion

One of my favorite things about this kit is that it’s not just a one-time project.
You can come back to it whenever the moment feels right, whether that’s for a special occasion or a quiet afternoon when the kids feel like making something for Mom.
Because some of the most special gifts don’t come from big plans. They happen in those everyday moments, with a handful of markers, a little creativity, and kids who are excited to make something just for her.
This printable kit works beautifully for Mother’s Day, birthdays, or those simple “just because” moments when you want to make her feel appreciated.
With a mix of cards, keepsake pages, coupons, and creative little touches, there’s plenty here for kids to create something special each time. It’s one you’ll reach for again whenever you feel like making mom smile.
Homemade Mother’s Day Gifts from Child (That Actually Mean Something)
When it comes to these kinds of gifts, it’s the personal touches that matter most.
A colored card, a silly answer on a worksheet, or a handmade coupon for “one quiet cup of tea” all add up to something far more special than anything store-bought.
This kind of handmade gift for mom becomes a memory, not just a moment.
A Birthday Gift for Mom from Kids She’ll Love
This kit isn’t just for Mother’s Day.
It also makes a lovely handmade gift for mom birthday idea. Kids can mix and match pieces to create something unique each time.
From cards to coupons to little keepsake pages, it’s an easy way to pull together thoughtful gift ideas for mom without the last-minute scramble.
“Just Because” Gifts That Mean the Most
Honestly? Some of the sweetest gifts don’t need a reason at all.
A random Tuesday “I love you, Mom” card or a surprise coupon booklet can mean just as much (if not more) than a planned occasion.
It’s such a simple way to encourage kindness, creativity, and those little everyday moments that end up meaning the most, especially when it’s a spontaneous gift for mom from kids.
Make One for Mom… and One for Grandma Too

And let’s not forget the women who made our moms who they are… our lovely grandmothers.
The best part? You can create the very same heartfelt gifts, tailored especially just for her.
This kit is also available in Grandma versions, including:
- Abuela
- Grammy
- Grandma
- Granny
- Mimi
- Nana
- Nanny
- Nonna
So whether your kids are making something for Mom or Grandma, they can enjoy all the same sweet activities. Think cards, keepsakes, coupons, and little handmade touches, all designed with her name in mind.
It’s such an easy way to help kids create something personal for both of them, without any extra planning on your part.
And trust me, she will absolutely treasure it.
Grandmother Faves
Wrapping It Up with Love (and a Little Glue Stick Magic)
If you’ve been searching for the best gift for mom, this is one of those simple wins that feels extra special.
It’s easy, meaningful, and lets kids take the lead without needing a full craft setup, making it one of those mom gift ideas you’ll come back to again and again.
So grab your markers, print your pages, and let your mini makers get creating.
