The magic of a themed unicorn Birthday party is something every little girl only dreams of. As a 30… something, I'm still madly in love with the beauty of unicorns.
The key to the most enchanting of unicorn parties? Most definitely pinks, purples and lots of sparkle.
For this party, I wanted to showcase my new printable party kit that you can download fo free yo. It was heaps of fun to get to play with some girly things, given everything in my house is boy, boy, boy!
I will run through the unicorn Birthday party below below. However, if you just want to grab the download now, scroll to the base of this post where you'll find a big green button with the download link.
Putting a buffet together always seems like such a daunting process right? Unless you're catering for the masses it's good to keep food simple and minimal. I don't think I've ever been to a kids party where there isn't plenty of food left over!
Just a little planning goes a long way. Pick a party theme and/or colour palette. To me a unicorn Birthday party needs pinks and purples but I also love adding a touch of blue or mint.
Did you happen to see the party backdrop? It is so easy, I whipped this one up myself. Best of all it's cheap! Made from crepe paper streamers and paper ribbon. One of my most popular posts ever on this blog is How to Make a Crepe Paper Streamer Backdrop.
I actually used my sideboard for my buffet table and since it had a lot of messy breakables in it, I just put a cheap white tablecloth on it. A sheet could work though too. Around the front of the table, I wrapped a string of tassel bunting that I bought from KMart.
You can also check out the Printables Library for some other free coordinating party decorations like the pink or purple bunting below.
The printable kit I created comes with a bunch of things to take out some of the stress and make things easier. I'll run you through them now.
First things first! We need to let everyone know about this magical event! The invitations are customisable so you can change the name, address and RSVP details on your computer. Who wants to handwrite all that?!
I like to add a personalised touch to the buffet table with a cute sign. This unicorn printable is customisable also. Your princess will get a kick out of seeing her name printed right there amongst it all.
One of my favourite things in this pack are the straw flags. There are several designs including a rainbow, unicorn face and gold glitter. I think they look super sweet with these striped paper straws. There's a quick vid below on how I put them together.
You'll notice there are some food tents for you to write food and beverage names. They could also make good place cards. They come in two designs – glitter over purple ombre and unicorn face design.
Now, I'm going to be honest with you all, I am not a kitchen genius! Not even close. Cooking isn't really my thing. Although I don't mind baking so much since you can really come out with some fun creations!
These printables are proof that even if you have the most ugliest cupcakes, it really doesn't matter since no one will even notice. These must've been the ugliest cupcakes I've ever made but I dressed them up and you can barely tell once everything is all setup!
I just love glitter, don't you? I used a glitter border on all of the toppers, with three designs including rainbow, unicorn face and “Happy Birthday” glitter font. One of the cupcake wrappers is glitter and the other a scalloped colourful gradient.
Check out the video further below for how I put my cupcake toppers together.
Fortunately, I have lots of platters, jars and such from previous parties and my wedding. If you don't have too many of these you can hire some or hit up friends. I'm often lending my things out to people. I find glassware and white crockery are the most versatile. Even plain white dinner plates and bowls.
To add some height with some of the food I actually turned some white bowls upside down and sat the food plate on there.
If you're looking for space fillers or ways to add more colour, place serviettes, plates and favour bags on the table also.
Lastly, when it comes to printing your party kit you might you might find my article on tips for paper selection and printing helpful.
I hope that in creating a kit of multiple party printables that I can alleviate some of the pressures that come along with organising a little girl's (near) perfect party! #doneisbetterthanperfect
