About the Fall scavenger hunt printable
After a hot summer, the cooler weather is a welcomed change. Get the kids outside to explore and find the objects listed. Don't just limit yourself to the backyard, you could also take this scavenger hunt to the neighbourhood, park or on camping adventures.
I created this fall scavenger hunt printable with young children in mind. I used simple graphics of autumn elements found in nature. This makes it easier for the young ones who aren't able to read yet. This is also a great fall printable activity for the whole family! If you want to make it more challenging, simply write down quantities next to the graphics so that the participants have to find more than just one of each item. I have listed some alternate ways to play further below.
I have kept the design minimal to save on printer ink. You can also print them in black and white if you like. Just remember that if participants can't read, it will make it difficult for them to identify the specific coloured objects in their search.
This PDF download comes with 2 scavenger hunt cards per page. They measure 5×7. The PDF is 8.5×11″ (US Letter) but can also be printed to A4. There are 12 objects to find in total including:
- Mushroom
- Acorn
- Berries
- Red Leaf
- Squirrel
- Tree
- Yellow Leaf
- Wildflower
- Birds
- Pumpkin
- Orange Leaf
- Apple
You could also laminate your Fall printable activity cards so that you can reuse them at another time.

How to run a fun scavenger hunt
If you have never participated in a scavenger hunt, it's very easy! Simply download and print the PDF at the end of this article. Then take your hunt outside, marking off the item checkboxes as you find them.
Additional elements you can add to your scavenger hunt game include:
- Split participants into groups and put a timer on the game
- Include quantities of each item that need to be found
- Collect items or take photos of them to show proof of the discovered items
- Play an evening game with flashlights (be sure to prioritize safety and that young children are supervised)
For young children, you can turn these fall scavenger hunt printables into a teaching moment. Each time you find an item, ask kids to think about the object and describe it.
- What colour is it?
- How does it feel? Bumpy? Smooth? etc.
- Does it have a smell? What do you think it smells like?
- Counting: How many do you have? How many petals does the flower have? etc
- Is there anything you dislike about the object?
- What do you like most about the object?
