It’s hard to believe that I’ve been around long enough to accumulate a whole year of quotes! Soon after starting my blog I began to add a cute quote at the end of every post. I do have to make mention that these quotes aren’t my own.
I love using words to convey my thoughts or feelings. I find I am sometimes short on exactly how I need to communicate those things. However, often someone somewhere has already summed up exactly what I want to say!
In conversation, I’m always mentioning a meme or a quote I saw the other day. Whilst I regularly use my own words, I also think people find quick quotes and words of wisdom helpful.
That is to say that they can relate more to what is being said and when summed up in this way, it can be more powerful. Even if it is a cliche!
I’m not going to lie, a lot of my favourite quotes are daggy or quirky. Sorry, not sorry! But I also try to take a moment to appreciate the small things.
At first, I tried sharing many different designs, mostly to social media. Since trying out various options I’ve settled on a plain, simple colour in combination.
Typically two-toned, or two shades of one colour. At the top of each quote, I include a small icon that alludes to the topic of the saying. Sometimes I have a lot of fun just figuring out a quirky icon to compliment the saying.
Affirmation Cards
Now as you well know, I typically like to come up with a free printable that relates to each post I write. For this post, I knew right away what the perfect freebie would be for you! I’ve created a set of 12 affirmation cards for women. I had so much fun creating these. I hope to come up with more in different designs. I’d also love to narrow down the different sub-genres of affirmation quotes to help us get through our days.
In time I will write another article on the power of affirmation cards and show you how I create mine. However, right now you might also like to read one of my first ever posts, Inspirational Quote Card Bunting DIY about how I created bunting to display my favourite inspired words.
I have created these affirmation cards with a watercolour flora design. They come with the following quotes:
- Trust the timing of your life
- I breathe in confidence and exhale fear
- The comeback is always stronger than the setback
- No one is you and that is your power
- There is no failure, only lessons
- Happiness is a choice
- Be gentle with yourself. You’re doing the best you can.
- I love myself for who I am
- I know my worth and own my choices
- Today I will be my most authentic self
- Be the woman you needed as a girl
- I have enough, I do enough, I am enough
Well now you have got through all of that, scroll on for my favourite quotes and sayings of 2020…
FRIENDS + FAMILY SAYINGS
Friends are the sprinkles on the cupcake of life
I love this quote since I regard all of my friends as beautiful, colourful and unique people who make my life so much better. I love them, especially for all of their quirks and imperfections. Also, who doesn’t love sprinkles right?! This saying is from my post: Easy Chocolate Covered Oreos
Life was meant for good friends and great adventures
It is pretty simple really. Often we forget the simplest of things though. This saying is from my post: 3 of my Favourite Printable Kids Activities
Those who teach the most about humanity aren’t always human
How many of us are animal lovers and pet owners? Pets are a great example of unconditional love, just as children are (only less work!). This saying is from my post: Adorable Unicorn Cat Hat Costume DIY
You can’t do epic shit with basic people
I was inspired by this quote after being part of my sister’s bridal party. Her friends and I jointly organised her bridal shower. As a result, I witnessed how the best of friends always know what you need, how to make you smile and of course, always have your back. This perfect letter board quote is from Boho Garden Bachelorette Party
Yes, I gave you life… but really you gave me mine
Shhh… don’t tell my kids this one! As difficult as every day is being a single mum, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Just like every other parent I know, life without kids is difficult to imagine. Unconditional love like that is hard to find anywhere else. This perfect letter board quote is from 16 Quick DIY Mother’s Day Gifts
APPRECIATION SAYINGS
It’s not how big the house is but how happy the home is
I love the pretty Instagram feeds and I blog about how to style your home and make it look nice. But that means nothing when the most important thing is always how your home feels. This saying is from my post: 7 Minute Modern Leaf Wreath DIY
Play in the dirt. Because life is too short to always have clean fingernails.
This is definitely one I have to keep telling myself! My children forced me to see this. At the end of the day, I want them to have fun so what is a little dirt? Oftentimes the most unexpected things can I’ve also had to accept that a clean, organised home isn’t worth the effort when you have kids. Come on over friends… see my real house. Yes, it’s messy! This saying is from my post: Super Fun Kids Summer Activities
CREATIVITY SAYINGS
It is necessary for kids to be bored. That is how creativity is born.
I’ve been saying this soon after my first child came into this world. I see so many mothers putting pressure on themselves to ensure their kids are entertained and kept busy. Well… it might create some whinging at first but it truly is a good thing when your children can go off on their own to make their own fun. Learning to be comfortable with boredom is in fact a really good thing. This saying is from my post: 59 Activities for the Kids to do at Home
Makers gonna make
I created a wall art printable for this quote. It’s a cute one to have in your creative space. This saying and the free printable wall art is from my post: 27 Clever Craft Storage Ideas

When things change inside you, things change around you
This is one of my more meaningful quotes. It was relevant to me given the life changes I have been through over the last few years. I realised that I’m responsible for creating my own happiness. And when I do, it has the most beautiful flow-on effect in my life and those lives around me. I have a heap of meaningful quotes just like this in these free affirmation cards I created for you. This life-changing saying is from my post: Instant Room Makeover Ideas

Why be moody when you can shake your booty
I LOVE this quote! No matter your skill, dancing just makes you feel good, doesn’t it? There’s nothing like turning the music up, the lights down and shaking that sexy booty in the dark. I actually thought I was pretty clever by using the milkshake icon there… you know that Kelis song, My Milkshake Brings All the Boys to the Yard. That’s exactly what I was shaking my booty to at the time! This perfect letter board quote is from Practical Tips for Planning a Party at Home
Thou shalt not let low-vibin’ sketchy-ass energy penetrate thy aura
I must have been in one of those kick-ass girl-power moods when I came across this one. And who can’t do with more of that confidence in their life right?! This saying is from my post: Coastal Boho Interior Styling Mood Board
